Newborn Photography With Joy Photography

Newborn Photography is probably my favourite aspect of photography. Do you remember Anne Geddes? Even as I child I idolised her adorable images of babies in plant pots and squishy newborns curled up in flowers. I never dared dream that my career might go in a similar direction! Then when my eldest son was born, 9 years ago I dusted off the hobby canon and started to experiment with some similar themed images. I cringe when I see all the technical errors in this image, but it still special to me for the memories and the start of an exciting journey!

I've come a long way since those days, but capturing every little detail and aspect of my own children as they grew and changed so rapidly cemented for me my love of photographing babies. Every little crease, flick of hair, tiny toe, every sweet yawn and windy smile. There is nothing more special than a precious new life brought into this world with all the love and expectations surrounding them and it is always an honour to be able to capture this magical but fleeting time for new parents.

You might be surprised to hear that the newborn photography is not regulated and so anyone really can advertise as a newborn photographer with a low level of insurance and little to no training or experience. Therefore It is vitally important that you entrust someone with a high level of training and experience with your precious newborn. I have trained with some of the top newborn photography trainers and photographers in the country and have handled and photographed a multitude of tiny newborns so I know how to respond to their cues, how to make sure they are comfortable while at the same time capture those beautiful timeless images you will display on your walls for years to come!

My aim in a newborn session is to create a relaxed atmosphere where you can put your trust in me as your photographer to handle your precious little one so sessions are never rushed with lots of time to stop for feeding, cuddles and soothing. I want to you to walk away having had a lovely experience in the studio, confident that together we have captures some very special images that you will be proud of. Some clients come with lots of their own ideas and others prefer me to take the lead with choosing the props and colours, either way is fine. I love trying out new poses and ideas but also have my tried and tested favourites which never fail to dissapoint. I also love to add some elements of the season in, be it spring flowers, Autumn pumpkins or a little bit of Christmas magic.

If you are interested in booking your newborn shoot with myself then do get in touch and we can get your due date in my diary. I will send you over some newborn preparation guidance with more details of how the session will run. Even if you have already welcomed your little bundle of joy into the world it's still worth getting in touch to see if we can schedule a shoot while they are still teeny tiny. Newborn shoots are best done in the first 2 weeks if possible to get the highest chance of capturing those iconic sleepy curled up shots, but also possible up until around 6 weeks.

Or are you interested in booking a newborn shoot for your expectant family member or friend? I have some beautiful gift vouchers available which can be made out for any shoot or amount and make a lovely baby shower gift. Don't hesitate to get in touch!
